This hike takes us to explore the Monte Cofano Nature Reserve, where you will have the opportunity to walk along the trails of this isolated dolomitic massif, which rises steeply over the sea. Its highest peak reaches 460 meters above sea level.
The Monte Cofano Nature Reserve is nestled between the territories of Erice and San Vito Lo Capo, in one of the most beloved areas for nature enthusiasts. It also hosts places of immeasurable historical value. The nearest town is Custonaci, which has developed an economy based on marble extraction, creating a striking contrast in the landscape. In the inner part of the area, the mountains appear carved out due to the extraction of this precious mineral.
Walking along the ancient trails, we will discover traces of human settlements that, throughout different eras, chose this land to live in harmony with nature. The reserve was established to preserve this pristine environment.
At the end of your excursion, you will also have the chance to enjoy the crystal-clear waters of Cornino Bay, a small district of Custonaci that comes to life during the summer season.
