Arrival at the aiport and transfer to the village of San Vito Lo Capo. Someone from our staff will brief you about the tour, give you a road book and papers. Overnight stay.
Your excursion will begin from the northern entrance of the Zingaro Nature Reserve where an evocative walk will take you on paths overlooking a blue cobalt sea. Today, the reserve is one of the most popular places in Sicily to admire superb panoramic views and to alternate hiking and swimming breaks in beautiful coves.
During this day you will pedal towards the town of Trapani. This city was founded by the Elymians to serve as the port of the nearby city of Eryx (present-day Erice) and is one of the most important harbours of Sicily, famous for salt, tuna and coral craftmanship. A notable production of works by experienced masters flourished here. They applied coral to gold and to copper and created precious jewels and valuable objects both for liturgical and household use.
After breakfast you can choose among two alternatives: catch the hydrofoil to the nearby island of Favignana and visit this little island, rich in bays with crystalline waters, or use the cableway to reach Erice, admire the enchanting medieval village overlooking the Salt pans and taste the superb almond biscuits, local specialty.
Return to Trapani at the end of the day.
Today you can cycle at a relaxed pace with views overlooking the Mediterranean Sea whilst admiring the Egadi Islands in the distance. You can stop along the way to visit the little island of Mozia, pristine Punic island with an archaeological site and a private museum. After, you will reach Marsala and visit, if you wish, one of the wineries where a special liqueur, the “Marsala” is producted.
After breakfast you can leave Marsala and reach the town of Mazara del Vallo. Again, you will cycle along a panoramic coastal road. Mazara del Vallo will seduce you with its vibrant fishing port and Arab Kasbah, it is also home of the bronze statue the ‘Dancing Satyr’.
