Arrival in Catania, transfer to your hotel in Milazzo.
In the morning you can catch the hydrofoil or the boat from Milazzo to Lipari. Lipari is the largest of the Aeolian Islands, a World Heritage Site for anyone who has passed through here and, since 2000, for UNESCO as well. Upon arrival you will have time to relax on its wonderful beaches. In the afternoon you can discover the secrets of this lovely island, walk through the little streets of the old town or visit of the Archaeological Museum housing a valuable exhibition of underwater archaeology.
After breakfast you will embark to the island of Salina, famous for the iconic image of its twin volcanoes. Salina is the second largest of the Aeolian islands, the richest in vegetation and water of the entire Sicilian archipelago and the one where volcanic activity is quietest. You will go on excursion through the crater of the Fossa delle Felci and the panoramic Rifugio di Monte Rivi. You can admire the best vistas over the Aeolian Islands. In the afternoon we will take a boat back to Lipari where you will have free time to discover the secrets of its centre.
After breakfast you can catch the hydrofoil and reach the Island of Vulcano, famous for its volcanic beaches and hot springs. You will make an excursion to the crater where it will be possible to observe the fumaroles, gas emanations coming from inside the earth. Free time to spend at the beach of volcanic sand or to take a thermal bath. Return to your hotel in Lipari, overnight.
After breakfast you can catch a morning hydrofoil or boat to reach the island of Stromboli, time at leasure for visiting the charming village. In alternative you can go on an optional boat tour around the island and visit the enchanting village of Ginostra, one of the most evocative corners of the whole archipelago. In the afternoon departure for an excursion that will take you up to the volcano escorted by a certified volcanological guide. Return to Lipari and overnight stay in hotel.
In the morning hydrofoil from Lipari to Milazzo. Private transfer from Milazzo harbour to Taormina. The town of Taormina is perched on a cliff overlooking the Ionian Sea. Do not miss a visit to the ancient Greek theatre, nestled in the heart of oldtown and offering a breaktaking view. This city has many old churches, lively bars, fine restaurants and antique shops. A must-see place.
Today you will walk on the Etna mountain and discover the old craters and the new ones: a spectacular views on the Ionian Coast. You will return to the hotel passing by the crest of the Bove Valley and the huge caldera formed by the collapse of an old volcano. Optional excursion to the top of Etna: climb on the cable car up to 2.500 meters of altitude. By a 4×4 bus you’ll approach 2850 mt from where an expert volcanologist guide will lead you up to 2920 mt. An unforgettable experience!
